Welcome to Farmhouse Therapy
Thanks for joining me on this fun little journey that I call Farmhouse Therapy. It’s all starting on a whim…and maybe a wee bit of a cold medicine. We’ll get to that in a moment.
It’s a brand new year, which seems to me to be the perfect time to start a brand new blog. It’s a reminder to me that new things can be scary, like learning to swim or skate, bicycle or drive a vehicle…only because it requires something novel from us and concentrated effort at the outset. Before we know it, that new thing becomes like old hat and we can do it with much more ease.
How Farmhouse Therapy was Born
This idea was born in what seems like a matter of seconds, but I think it’s been a long time coming. Today was my last day of vacation from the Christmas holiday and I awakened earlier than normal with a killer head cold…the kind that puts you down for the count. Misery and I are not very good companions, so I decided I’d settle in my comfy, cozy, corner chair (tissues and hot lemon-tea close by) and peruse some of my favorite sites to try to forget about my scratchy throat, pounding head and drippy nose. It was not a pretty sight.
As is usually the case when I’m looking for a quick escape from reality, I headed straight to the sites that feature farmhouse living and farmhouse decor. I’ve always loved the simplicity, coziness and warmth of this uncomplicated style and all that it represents. It’s cheerful and welcoming and always makes me feel comforted. I thought to myself, “What I need today is a little bit of farmhouse therapy.” And in that exact moment, Farmhouse Therapy was born.
Before I could chicken out, I boldly went to see if the URL was taken. It was not. I bought the URL before I could second guess myself, thinking that I’d regret it if I played it safe and thought it over too long. After getting the URL and reserving the blog space for it…I next laid claim to a space on Instagram and Twitter, and with that, I called it a productive day! Tissues and all.
